I Bought Myself A JBL Car Audio System

In this last day of 2017, I opened the package that has delivered since several days ago. I ordered myself a JBL car audio system and they are actually only a pair coaxial speakers and a JBL sound processor.

Why JBL?! Why not others brand? Well, I get them with special price, the JBL MS-2 sound processor only less than US$60 compares from their first launch is about US$200, and the coaxial speakers GTO-629 for about US$80. It is a good deal and no harm to try them all.

Indonesia Hi-end Audio Show IHEAC 2017

This 2017 Indonesia High End Audio show is having almost the same concept from last year. Some of the brands participants are already familiar with me. There are also new comers in this IHEAC 2017 show. During my visit, I could not entering all room because of the crowd. This is a good indication that audio show like this still attract many people to visit.

Arc Audio DSP-8 Installation On Toyota Harrier 2005

I remember when the Arc Audio DSP-8 came into Indonesia market around few years ago, I wonder that someday I could install this little DSP amplifier and see how it's perform personally. The selling point for this little DAC + 4 channel amplifier combo is the very flexible setting over the PC. With my busy life lately, luckily I still have a chance to installing it on the Toyota Harrier 2005. This DSP will replace the OEM JBL audio system.

When choosing a speakers system, I usually need to evaluate it directly on my listening room. It is not an easy pick up stuff and hope it will suit to my listening preference or with the room acoustic. There is no way I can tell how good one speaker to another by just only looking to the specification.

Like this Polk Audio SDA Compact Speakers that just coming to my house last week. I can only say nothing than WOW. The finished of this speaker is astonishing and the drivers configuration are extraordinary.

Remembering this speakers are actually build around 80's and maybe the older it get, the mature sound it is. Just like a bottle of wine.

More Upgrade On Integrated Tripath DAC Amplifier

I am enjoying my life recently by listening music on this Tripath DAC amplifier. I am not doing any upgrade on it just because I am satisfy with this tiny amp from tripath. Then from my last upgrade here, I combine this little amp with simple DAC circuit from TDA1543. It sound wonderful. I listen to my music albums collection again and again. Until one day, I notice something went wrong. The sound should be more lively especially on the lower octave. The bass shy and this is not right.

Building TPA3118 Class D Car Amplifier

This car amplifier project is using the old car power amplifier I had. I removed all the amplifier components and leave the power supply section with several components such as input connector and potentiometer in place. I am using this power supply board for my testing purpose. Especially when the new idea comes on myself and it is related to the car audio system. Just like this one, I will build a class D car amplifier based on TPA3118 from Texas Instrument.

Vifa TC9 Fullrange Speaker

It is been a long time since I bought this Vifa TC9-FD18-08 here, it is a 8 ohm driver with almost similar specification as the Vifa TG9 except TG9 is 4 ohm.

Theoretically, the higher impedance will make the distortion lower and I wish I could hear cleaner sound with this 8 ohm speakers. So here there are, a pair of TC9 speaker driver ready to replace my current Vifa TG9.
