Chord Mojo + Dignis Leather Case

The Chord Mojo that I reviewed here is a spectacular little DAC. It is a portable DAC with headphones amplifier in one small package.

I mostly using this Chord Mojo on my home stereo system that consist of gainclone amplifier and DIY SB Acoustic Speakers. It is sound very good and far above it's price. The great sound is actually coming from the DAC inside Chord Mojo with the line output mode ON, pushing 3 volt audio signal to the amplifier.

The battery life when using in this setup is not great, but very acceptable. For the portable use is about 8 hours great music enjoyment which is more than enough for me.

The Chord Mojo using high grade aluminum body shell, meaning it is not so easy to dent if it is accidentally hit something. Unlike the Sony NW-A55 which I have here, the aluminum body is in the different material class. Sony NW-A55 aluminum more soft and it got one dent as I accidentally hit it to the airplane chairs when I traveling to Bali few weeks ago.

Then good things happens, I just got the leather case from Korean company named Dignis. It is a high quality leather case which I really like to share here.

This post is not a sponsored by Dignis or the distributors, hence this is a truly great product that I think I should share.

Their product are made for portable player like this Chord Mojo or others DAP like Sony, Astell & Kern, and many more.

I got this Dignis leather case in used condition for less the price. The leather case condition looks like it already using for quite long time. But no any sign of deteriorated from the leather itself. This leather case brand new price is US$80 and I don't think this is expensive compares to the quality.

The most important for using the casing is the fitment. It should be just right. Not to tight that makes the device hard to release, or more dangerously, too loose that potentially slip out from the casing.

This Dignis leather case is perfect fit to the Chord Mojo. All the corner, buttons layout, and the input output socket are easily accessed. The cutting is precise.

It is very delightful to know that Dignis put the detail on their leather case. The marking for each buttons are marked with the symbols. Quite helpful if you not using this device for quite a long time and want to operate it but forget what those buttons function.

The information I got from the Dignis websites, my leather case model is Buttero Leather made by Italian vegetables leathers.

The leather is smooth to touch with the inside of the casing wrapped with the suede leather. Once again the detail inside are filled by the 'Dignis' wording and purple color touch. Very nice indeed.

There is a possibility this Chord Mojo is stacked with the smartphone. The Chord Mojo is built for that, so does this Dignis leather case.

The lines on the back of the leather case is a pad when contacting with the smartphone. For me, I using it as the device feet, so I can put my Chord Mojo with this leather case on the same rack besides the amplifier.

So, I guess it is all I need to say about this Dignis leather case. It is worth spending to the high grade accessories like this.

OPA1622 Vs. OPA627 High Performance Op-amps Comparison

This op-amps comparison topic is actually boring, but at the same time, many of us still curious about what others think about it. The reason is simply because of the op-amps variation are hundreds and they are depends by the implementation. The op-amps are considerably cheap and an interchangeable electronic components but they are not built for the same function. So in this discussion, I will focus on the modern Vs. vintage high performance op-amps in the simple non-inverting pre-amplifier gain stage.

Vintage Multibit R2R DAC Tier List

At the very beginning of this year, I committed to explore the best multi-bit R2R DAC. This is simply because I have plenty of the resources (from broken old unit CD player of course) and ability to build them up. If you think this kind a recycle from old un-used unit to become something useful, than I should stated myself giving contribute for greener world:) After all DAC that I built in this year, I think it is better for me to list them up again in one single page like this. Then I will rank them up in a simple tier list. The reason for this, so you all know what my opinion about of those vintage multibit R2R DAC especially in the sound quality.

TDA1543 DAC Review In 2021

It is a fine day and as usual I am reading and searching online contents related to almost anything I like. During my search, I stop to the few online forum discuss about a simple DAC using TDA1543 DAC IC. The discussion about this DAC was about 3 years ago, and the latest was about a year ago. Quite new and overall discussion about this DAC sound quality mostly are positive. It is interesting topic anyway especially I was built this TDA1543 DAC long time ago in 2016. At that time, I combine this DAC with Tripath amplifier  here  and  here  before it sold in 2019. That is also my first DIY DAC and I am quite enjoyed this DAC so much, at that time. The background story about this, previously I was using Sony Playstation SCPH-1002 as my reference CD Player. The reason I moved to this TDA1543 DAC is because the CD optic inside the Playstation is wear out and I cannot find the replacement for it. I pretty remember the sound quality of this TDA1543 DAC is quite comparable...
