DIY Oyaide WM Line Out Dock Connector Kit

This is the Oyaide WM Line Out Dock kit from Japan manufacture specialist on hi quality connector. The WM port use by most Sony DAP can transfer the true line output signal to feed the amplifier. This kit require soldering skill for the SMD resistor and terminal leads. Warning: this project is not for beginner.

I guess no others product made this WM dock kit except Oyaide. This is all you got once open up the package.

You spent over US$20 for this connector and you good really good quality from Oyaide.

There also a board to solder with the 4,7 kilo ohm SMD resistor. This is what make this DIY not for beginner.

Then, the plastic cover.

First attempt is attach the board to the connector. The connector leads seems very fragile but it is not actually.

I need to realign the leads so they are in position with every tabs in the board.

Preparing the SMD resistor.

Carefully attach the resistor to the board. If you ask the purpose of this resistor is actually the information signal to the DAP telling that this connector is connected for audio line out.

Then, solder them up one by one.

Remember, there is also some leads need to solder into the board at the back of the connector.

It is technically finished, and the rest is attaching to desired cable.

You will notice the marker on the connector are actually same with the tab on the plastic cover. So they will attach together and precise.

On hand, I still have my own built RCA to 3.5 mm jack using Canare GS-6 and L-2T2S combined. This cable will be attach to this WM Dock Kit.

This cable lenght is 2 meter and just too much for my home audio application. I cut it in the middle.

The Canare L-2T2S is a good quality cable for it price.

It is cooper cable in signal line.

Finishing soldering the cables end to the connector.

It is done!

How remarkably using this cable to my Sony Walkman DAP. The true line out is truly pure line output that you need it to connect the DAP to the home amplifier.

Updates
This Oyaide WM dock working flawlessly and I guess I need dress the cable a little bit up by using a cable sleeve. To do this, I should open up again the connector and insert the sleeve.

OPA1622 Vs. OPA627 High Performance Op-amps Comparison

This op-amps comparison topic is actually boring, but at the same time, many of us still curious about what others think about it. The reason is simply because of the op-amps variation are hundreds and they are depends by the implementation. The op-amps are considerably cheap and an interchangeable electronic components but they are not built for the same function. So in this discussion, I will focus on the modern Vs. vintage high performance op-amps in the simple non-inverting pre-amplifier gain stage.

Vintage Multibit R2R DAC Tier List

At the very beginning of this year, I committed to explore the best multi-bit R2R DAC. This is simply because I have plenty of the resources (from broken old unit CD player of course) and ability to build them up. If you think this kind a recycle from old un-used unit to become something useful, than I should stated myself giving contribute for greener world:) After all DAC that I built in this year, I think it is better for me to list them up again in one single page like this. Then I will rank them up in a simple tier list. The reason for this, so you all know what my opinion about of those vintage multibit R2R DAC especially in the sound quality.

What Mazda Bose Centerpoint Does to The Music?

It has been a month since I bought and use this brand-new Mazda CX-5 as my daily cars. No doubt for the car performance, this is one of the most reliable, yet very comfortable car to drive. This Mazda CX-5 is the Elite version with 2.5-liter engine and package with Bose  audio system as a "bonus" features. This is car is very interesting, I will try to explain it from my own perspectives as a casual user, especially for the Bose audio system. Early disclaimer, I listening to this Bose audio system and in my opinion, the overall sound quality is not very special. Surprise, surprise! The sound quality is average but for sure better than most cars with non-audio brand collaboration. Let's deep down to it.
